A new truck can be used as a primary source of transportation or as a work or recreational vehicle that will be used to haul business supplies or tow a 4-wheeler or another off-road vehicle. Before investing money for features that you may not need, consider the exact purposes that your new truck will be needed for.
Basic Truck Packages
A basic truck package is offered at most dealerships. A short bed truck is a vehicle type that comes with the shortest bed length on the market. This type of truck can haul small loads, but will likely not be suited for hauling multiple pieces of heavy machinery or towing a great abundance of weight. A truck that is equipped with a standard bed is a vehicle that is one size up from a short-bed vehicle.
This type of vehicle can also be used to haul or tow relatively small loads. Either type of truck is suited for everyday use or work use, but may not come with the high price tag that a fully-decked-out extended cab model or a convertible model comes with. A bench seat or individual bucket seats that are separated by a console may be featured in either type of truck.
More Luxurious Models
Auto dealers may feature more luxurious models, including full-sized pickup trucks that contain extended beds and heavy-duty trucks that are designed to haul bulky loads. There are many other truck models available for purchase that may fit in between the truck types on the lower spectrum and the truck types that contain the most features.

A sporty truck model may contain a bed cover that can be removed with ease. This type of truck will allow you to convert your vehicle from what looks like an SUV to a basic pickup truck. Truck models may contain moon roofs too. If you are going to be using your truck for many leisurely purposes, including road trips, ask your dealer to show you some of their trucks for sale that have a moon roof, anti-theft equipment, and any other features that will make driving your new vehicle more accommodating.
